Concealed carry permit: Parents deserve full disclosure

Cheers to Utah for allowing teachers to protect their students the same way they can protect their family in public. But the incident described at the start of this article is a great example of why simply allowing carry on campus is not enough – teachers need training.

With the onset of fall, one seasonal ritual in Utah is in full bloom: the parent-teacher conference. This year, Utah parents may want to begin their conference session by asking their child’s teacher a new question:”Do you have a concealed carry permit?”A few weeks ago, the school year started off with a bang – literally, when a teacher at Westbrook Elementary in Taylorsville was injured as the firearm she brought to school as is permitted by law went off while she was in the restroom.
