Board chair: Educators oppose having guns

Chairwoman Byrd and one other school board member did attended the February presentation.  I’m not sure what principals where there – but in case they missed it, a recording is available.  I do fear that Chairwoman Byrd’s ideas of democracy are what Lord Acton was trying to warn us about when he wrote: “The one pervading evil of democracy is the tyranny of the majority, or rather of that party, not always the majority, that succeeds, by force or fraud, in carrying elections.”  Good government (and the school board is a form of government) protects the rights of the minority against the mob rule of the majority.

The school board listened to both sides, Byrd said. Principals with the schools in Boone County and saw a POST presentation in February.

“There were some that were supportive of it, but the majority said we oppose this,” Byrd said. “And in America, majority rules.

  1. This decision is due to fear and lack of individual gun education. I find it funny that we will protect our money, our sporting events, our airports, our govt officials, OTHER country’s children with guns…. BUT NOT OUR OWN CHILDREN??
