Lock down drills as common as fire drills

From HNGN.com:

Instead of practicing where to go and what to do in case of a fire, which seemed to be the biggest worry a student growing up before the Columbine school shootings happened, students are now learn how to hide behind bookshelves or desks and keep out of site in case of a shooter, according to the Times.

Do you think that because schools have fire drills they skip having smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and sprinklers?  Of course not.  It should be the same for preparing for school attacks: lockdowns should be just a part of the overall set of overlapping safety systems.  Trained and armed teachers should be another.
